Detroit Food Gifts: Better Made, Faygo, Vernors and Sanders
Detroit food gifts that travel in a plain box: Better Made chips, Faygo, Vernors, Sanders hot fudge and Germack nuts from Eastern Market. Detroit Gift Store packs them by hand in Detroit, with a handwritten card, and ships them across the US.
The Detroit brands in our boxes
- Better Made potato chips, fried on Gratiot Avenue. The story is in our Better Made history.
- Faygo Rock & Rye, the cherry cream soda Detroiters order by name. See what Rock & Rye actually is.
- Vernors ginger ale, for a Boston Cooler with vanilla ice cream.
- Sanders hot fudge, the topping on the hot fudge cream puff.
- Germack pistachios and cherry and praline nuts, from the Eastern Market roaster.
Which box to send
The 313 Box ($79) has all five. The Care Package ($59) adds canned Detroit-style coney sauce with our coney recipe card and a box of Jiffy, for someone who left and misses Sunday dinner; it ships to US addresses only, because Canada doesn't allow meat products by mail. The Game Day Box ($75) packs the snacks with a Honolulu blue mug for a football Sunday.
What ships, and what doesn't
Chips, pop, fudge and nuts handle a few days in a truck. A hot coney and a square of pizza don't, unless the restaurant freezes and ships them itself. Our guide to Detroit food gifts that ship lists who sends what, and the complete list of famous Detroit foods covers the rest.
or justPack it yourself
Pick a size, then fill it from five shelves: pop, salty, sweet, pantry and a keepsake. Every box comes out balanced and all Detroit.
